The scope and depth of aspects of impacted individual and collective activities, range from our privacy to our education, and from our livelihood to our security. One can form dystopian or utopian views of the direction in which we are marching. This talk aims to inform the discussion.

    2022年時点では全線を走行する定期旅客列車は寝台特急「サンライズ瀬戸・九州を結ぶ長距離旅客列車が多数運行されていたが、1964年（昭和39年）10月に輸送力増強を目的とした東海道新幹線が開通すると、長距離旅客輸送の役割は同新幹線に譲り、並行する東海道本線の旅客輸送は地域輸送中心の体制に移行した。
