Serving Two Masters (at Least): Product Management at the Extreme

We’ve all been there: sitting in a doctor’s waiting room or an ER, looking around and thinking, “Surely we could design this better.” This talk is about what it looks like from the other side.

Stav is a physician and clinical product manager in Clalit Health Services’ Innovation Division (yes, that exists). She tells the story of building CPI, a product that helps family physicians keep up with medical knowledge and identify which patients need them most, all within a seven-minute appointment and for users who are tired of big promises.

Healthcare is product management at the extreme: exhausted users, a fragmented market of doctors from all backgrounds, and institutional stakeholders who can’t be “sold” a vision.

Through this story, Stav explores lessons that travel well beyond healthcare: why going deep on one clinical problem beats going wide, how constraints like legal precedent and explainability can shape a product more than technology does, and what success even means when the outcome you want is a heart attack that never happens, 20 years from now.

Healthcare is the New York of product management: if you can build it here, you can build it anywhere.
